in order to benefit individuals as consumers of health care and professionals as providers of health care, educate the public and professionals regarding both emerging problems in managed mental health care and the solutions to those problems through health care reform;

 in order to aid those who either have been distressed by problems with health care delivery that have resulted from insurance and managed health care systems or have had their health care rights violated by insurance and managed health care systems, provide charitable services that help consumers find solutions that alleviate these problems.

 in order to promote the advancement of the science of mental health care, publish articles in relevant scientific and professional journals and participate in scientific activities;
